THE Employability Initiative has been a real success story at Lochgelly High School and a number of awards were presented in this area.

For excellent participation in the Young Enterprise Award scheme, winners of the Fife group and taking part in the national finals, the BIT Young Enterprise team were recognised: Kaitlyn Bell 6SPF2, who received enterprise and employability awards; Jodie Campbell 6SPD3, Brogan Clark 6SPT3, Scott Farrelly 6SPK3, Martin Fraser 6SPK2, Finley George 6SPD1, Abbi Gilfillan 6SPD2, Paul Klym 6SPT3 and Celine Robertson 6SPD2 all received enterprise awards.

Abbi has shown great leadership as the vice-captain for Dewar House – Guidance; Niamh Logie 5SPT1. Niamh shows amazing confidence in each and every part of the English course. She has demonstrated this throughout and is now attaining a top grade – English; Trevor Mansell DAS. Trevor has overcome a phobia of dogs which makes him and those working with him less at risk in the community – DAS; Caitlin McCall 6SPT2. Caitlin has represented LHS excellently at various conferences and meetings including with Soroptimists International and the Scottish Government – SLT; Bethany Polanski 5SPK3. Bethany was highly committed and an enthusiastic participant in the leadership tasks –Leadership; Jemma Rutherford 6SPD3. Jemma gave an outstanding solo performance in the school Christmas concert in Lochgelly Centre and at the Senior Citizen’s Easter Treat. She is respectful and polite at all times. Her work is of a consistent high quality – Guidance, Music, English; Adam Stein 4SPK1. Adam is focused and actively seeks feedback to find ways he can improve his work. He shows real determination and maturity in class, confidently sharing his ideas with others both in group and class discussions – English; Mollie Thomson 5SPK3.
