FOUR Lochgelly High School S2 students participated in the Strathmore Trophy at the University of Dundee and showed how to adapt to a challenging situation.

The four LHS contenders were Keir Bailey, Ronan McGuire, Caitlin McConnell and Abbie Reid.

The team was set the challenge of coming up with an idea for a Smart Watch App and then developing a prototype.

The team developed IARCK Rewards, an App where users earned points by doing fitness, playing games or many more things. These points then went towards big rewards like Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, etc.

The team developed a prototype using Java Programming Language, a language that they have never worked with before.

Caitlin said her head hurt from thinking about how to tackle the task! Our photograph shows some of the team working on their App.

They said: "Whilst developing the App we gained an insight of what University is like, and the feeling of frustration you get when your code doesn’t work because you have missed one semi-colon!

"Luckily this did not happen too often as we were supported by university computing students.

"Whilst we did not win any prizes we had a fantastic experience and we are all proud of what we achieved in only two hours."
