THE test range at the Lochgelly CommScope factory will have a new look this summer.

As part of Earth Day staff linked up with pupils from the town's three primary schools to create a new wildflower meadow jus outside the factory.

The wild flower meadow was created in conjunction with CommScope’s ‘Earth Day’ initiative, the bugs life charity, fife’s buzzing along with the hard work of the three local primaries, Lochgelly West P5, Lochgelly South P5 and St Patricks P5.

Said the team of engineers who worked with the pupils on sewing the seeds: "Earth Day is about creating education and awareness of the environment.

"It involves setting up projects within the company to promote and act upon this. The projects can help to improve the health of employees or as in this case can be beneficial to the wild life and the local community.

"The Test range, which has been here at CommScope for over 40 years was chosen as an ideal location for this type of project.

"In this location man-made structures are not beneficial to the test work carried out, but wild life can certainly co-exist and we are keen to encourage it."

The children had a great time on Wednesday morning and enjoyed working on the Test Range and are all looking forward to seeing the flower beds develop.
