LOCHGELLY High School Pipe Band have made a successful start to their 2016 competition season by clinching the British title.
The LHS band’s record over the years has been impressive and the current crop of pipers and drummers are keeping up the standards.
The band competed at the Loch Leven Pipe Band contest held, in the Kinross High School Campus on Saturday May 14, and were placed 1st overall in the Grade 4 Adult Contest and also in 1st  place as the best Drum corp.
The Band then made the trip to Paisley to compete at the British Pipe Band Championships which was attended by over 130 bands from throughout the UK and Ireland on Saturday May 21 and won  the British Championship title in the Novice Juvenile Grade.
This was an outstanding performance against good quality opposition and sets them up for some good events in the coming weeks.
The band will compete in several local events in the next few weeks like Markinch Games, the Lochore Meadows Pipe Band Contest and the European Championships held in Forres, Morayshire.
More silverware for the LHS trophy cabinet is virtually certain.
The Lochgelly High Pipe Band has been bringing home the silverware virtually since the school opened 30 years ago with expert coaching making them so very competitive.
