A LOCHGELLY mum this week talked about the pain of losing a daughter to kidney cancer aged only 31 but also of the magnificent support of the community at such a terrible time.

And this Sunday Denise Easton will be warmly remembered when a special charity day is held at Diamonds Bar, in Bank Street, to raise money for the Hospice at the Victoria Hospital, in Kirkcaldy, and the Maggie's Centre facility nearby.

Margaret Lambert said: "Denise bravely fought the kidney cancer for three years and buoyed by the support she received from her husband Lee, and children Dylan (15), Rennie (11) and Maisie (6), she was not for giving in.

"The support from the hospice staff and those at the Maggie's Centre also played a huge part in her fight. "Considering Denise was told in the very early stages that it was a terminal condition her determination kept her going for three years and it was only in July 2014 that she had to give into this terrible disease."

Margaret added: "The thing was that Denise received tremendous support from her close friends such as Sara Webster and Jackie Henderson who were always on hand to help.

"So when someone said to me about having a charity memorial day for Denise I felt what a great idea and the reaction from the public has been unbelievable."

On Sunday, at Diamond's Bar, a family day out will see Denise warmly remembered and at the same time the plan is to raise money for a memorial bench to be placed at the Victoria Hospice and also to support the Hospice and the Maggie's Centre organisation.

"There is a top quality bill and we want it to be a happy day when people can remember Denise and at the same time we can raise money to support cancer sufferers. After all there is hardly a family that is not affected by the disease at some time or other." See also Page 4.
