FORMER Oakfield Secondary school teacher in Kelty, Mary Duncan M.A., enjoyed her 100th Birthday Party at Erigmore House at Birnam, Dunkeld.

Mary was joined for the occasion by a company of some 84 guests composed of family and friends who were all entertained by the Balaclava Pipe Band who are associated with The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders at Stirling.

Mary was a much loved English teacher at Oakfield J.S. School from the early 40’s until the school closed in the sixties, and latterly at Balwearie High School School, Kirkcaldy. Mary welcomed many of her old pupils to her party including Bobby Lees, John Lynas, Agnes Arnott, Janet Laird, Robin Brannan, Cathy Cordery, and Andrew Duncan.

During the champagne reception Mary was assisted by her great nieces Chloe Kent as Balloon Girl, and Elena Wroth as Flower Girl, and two great nephews Peter Kent and Luke Wroth as ‘keepers of the Quaich’. This was followed by dinner in the House and finished off with a rousing Ceilidh.
