ANOTHER plan for a skatepark in Kelty has been tabled, just yards away from the site that was given permission in April.

Fife Council admitted they had received “many complaints” after the facility at Keltyhill Avenue playpark was given the green light.

Local residents were unhappy about where it was going to be built and the whole planning process has now started again after a new plan was submitted last month.

But, on looking at the drawings for the new proposed site, the skatepark doesn’t seem to be moving very far at all.

A council spokesperson admitted, “They’ve made changes to the original application, moving it from the west side of the footpath to the east side.” There were no objections listed for the original application, it only drew the ire of villagers after it was approved.

And deciding to move it a few yards away to the other side of the path means another delay while the planning process gets underway.

Firm plans for a skatepark in Kelty were drawn up after Cowdenbeath Area Committee agreed in 2013 to build five in the area.

Young skating enthusiasts had their say on how the park will look and met with designers to develop plans, which include ramps and slopes across a flat concrete base in the middle of the park.

The initial designs were then turned into technical drawings as part of the planning permission.

The committee provided £178,000 and later approved a further £156,000 from the Fairer Scotland Fund, while external funding helped reach the total cost of £500,000 for the five facilities in the different communities.
