WHAT the proposed Hilton Wind Farm at Lochore Meadows Country Park will consist of will be detailed at three special events being held next week.

Developers Amec Foster Wheeler are holding the public exhibitions on Monday 13th at Benarty Centre, Tuesday 14th at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre, on Thursday 16th July from 1pm to 8pm at Lochgelly Centre; and on Friday 17th at the Moray Institute, Kelty, again 1pm to 8pm.

Then on Saturday 18th , the Park Centre at the Meadows will be the venue from 11am to 4pm.

The proposed wind farm site lies just to the south of the Lochore Meadows Country Park and to the east of Kelty.

The proposal will consist of six turbines of up to 100m high to tip.

Sandy Winterbottom, of AMEC, said this week, “Amec Foster Wheeler is keen to engage with as many members of the local community as possible to hear their views on the wind farm.

“The exhibition will consist of the results of all the studies undertaken from the wind farm including noise, visual impact, ecology, bird studies and archaeology. Photomontages from a variety of viewpoints around the site will be displayed for members of the public to view.

“As part of the consultation with the community, Amec Foster Wheeler will also be carrying out a visitor survey at the Lochore Meadows Country Park”.

She added, “The community benefit fund from the project will be around £70,000 per year which can be used to fund local projects.

“In addition to community benefits, Amec Foster Wheeler are keen to develop the site in partnership with the community so that they can own a share of the wind farm equivalent to one of the wind turbines. The revenue from this will also be used to fund projects in the local area to the benefit of the community.

“Amec Foster Wheeler is working closely with the community councils surrounding the project to enable them to own a share in the project”.
