A KELTY girl is donating her long hair to a children’s wig charity after years of growing it down to the bottom of her back.

Nine-year-old Shannon Amos, of Glengask Grove, had her long locks cut for the Little Princess Trust on Saturday at Glam Studios on Chapel Street.

The Kelty Primary School pupil’s mum, Lisa (31), said, “Shannon said to me a few weeks ago that she wanted to cut her hair off for a charity that makes wigs for children who don’t have hair.

“It was very out of the blue and I don’t know where the idea came from so I told her to do some research on it and she went away and looked on the internet.

“She came back a bit later and said that she wanted to give it to the Little Princess Trust.

“She said that she wanted to give some hair to someone who didn’t have any.

“We have only been allowed to take off the ends of Shannon’s hair for five years – she loves it long but she wanted to get it cut.

“She has two other sisters and they, myself and her dad are very proud of her for doing this – especially because she is only nine years old!”
