A YOUNG Kelty mum who named her new business after her daughter is celebrating its success after a fun opening day on Monday.

Stacey Somerville (25) cut the ribbon on the door of home cleaning business Alisha’s earlier this week and can’t wait to officially get started.

“I used to work for Hectic Life back in 2011,” she explained. “It was home cleaning and contract work and I thought it was something I could do myself.

“I can’t wait to help the community, I think Kelty needs something different like this, and the response has been fantastic - the shop wasn’t even open yet and there were people at the door!” Stacey revealed that she named the business - which offers laundry, cleaning and ironing services - after her seven-year-old daughter Alisha, and thinks family is a big influence.

“My dad had a taxi business and I thought to start my own business,” she said. “I love to help others and it was the perfect opportunity.

“I thought it would be nice to name it after Alisha. She’s excited about it, so maybe she will take it on in the future!” Customers were already beginning to gather outside before the 10am opening on Monday, and Stacey admits that the reaction to her new business has been overwhelming.

“The response has been unbelievable,” she said. “I think it’s good for the elderly, and maybe for young men living on their own too!

“It’s been a bit chaotic this morning but I’ll get into the swing of things.

“I just like to get involved, and I thought an open day would be good to introduce people to myself and the business.” Lochs councillor Alex Campbell helped Stacey cut the ribbon, and was pleased to support a new business opening in Kelty.

“I’m delighted that another shop on the Main Street is opening,” he said. “It’s a good opportunity and at just 25 years old it’s a big feat.

“I was 24 when I first took on the North Road Garage, and I know that all the hard work rewards you.

“It’s absolutely brilliant.” Stacey’s new business, Alisha’s, is now open at 29 Main Street, Kelty.
