A NEW sandwich shop could be on the cards for Main Street, in Kelty, if a resident’s ambitious plans are approved.

Laura Campbell, of Station Road, has submitted a planning application in which she hopes to turn a vacant retail unit, which used to be a sweet shop, into a brand new takeaway facility which could help bring business to the area. Councillors are keen to see shops open and doing business rather than being boarded up, as is the case with many buildings, and the new sandwich bar could play its part in attracting people to Main Street.

If plans are approved, the vacant building will be transformed into a new food outlet selling sandwiches, filled rolls, home baking and coffee for consumption outwith the premises. With the primary school and community centre in the immediate vicinity, there are many passers-by who could be attracted to the sandwich bar for lunch or a snack.

The current application is under consideration by an officer.
