BRAVE work by Kelty woman Samantha Mair saw her raise over £800 for Cancer Research.

Samantha (19) decided to do something for the charity while a young teenager still at school, and then realised £400.

The nursing assistant in a care home, from Blairadam Crescent, has continued to come up with fundraising ideas as people close to her have suffered from the condition.

Said Samantha, who is going to university in September to study nursing, “I chose cancer research because a few people close to me in my life have suffered from the condition, and I started fundraising three years ago and raised over £400 for cancer by skydiving.

“I lost my gran to cancer over 10 years ago. There are too many people close to me and others that have suffered from it, so I took it upon myself to raise money for the amazing charity that has helped people close to me”.

So she headed for Killiecrankie and the bungee jump facility there and prepared for the drop into the abyss!

It was a spectacular, if somewhat breathtaking, fundraising activity but she was delighted she took it on.

She added, “I originally had a target of £250 but I am thrilled that I raised £835 for Cancer Research.

“I plan on fundraising each year for the cause to raise money for them to hopefully find a cure one day for this terrible disease”.
