COWDENBEATH MSP Annabelle Ewing has sent her congratulations to the players and committee of Kelty Hearts on them winning the East of Scotland League and also wishing them every success in their Lowland League play-off with Threave Rovers over the coming two weekends.

Ms Ewing sent her congratulations to Kelty Hearts Football Club, following their victory in the East of Scotland League over Lothian Thistle which clinched the EoSL title and said: “I want to offer my sincere congratulations to players, management, fans and everyone else associated with Kelty Hearts, following this weekend’s conclusion of the East of Scotland League which saw the Hearts emerge, not just as winners of the final match against their closest rivals, but as league champions.

“To win the East of Scotland League in their first year, after switching from Junior Football is a magnificent achievement, and I wish them all the very best for the play-offs as they seek to secure a place in the Lowland League for next year".

She added: “At the same time I have to also send best wishes to Cowdenbeath FC as they face a play off to stay out of the Lowland League.

"I certainly want us to be seeing local derby matches between Cowdenbeath and Kelty – but in the SPFL not in the Lowland League!”
