AFTER the success of the Blackhall Square Regeneration Project, a Kelty organisation were approached by members of the community and business owners to carry on with their street art projects in other areas of the village.

Kelty Street Art Collective made a huge impact on villagers with their complete rehabilitation of Blackhall Square which has seen new businesses move into what had become a forgotten part of the Kelty retail story.

And to give an idea of what is to follow a special day long event is to be held in Kelty Community Centre next month.

Said KSCA's Claire Hutchison: "Our first project will be featured in this year's Architecture Fringe.

"We formed a committee and have been working hard behind the scenes, securing funding and fundraising, and people may have seen our Kelty Street Art Collective donation tins in the local shops.

"We will be hosting our first 'Kelty Creatives Day' in the Community Centre on Sunday, May 13 from 11am to 3pm.

"This is a free fun event with the main purpose being to raise awareness of the next phase of our street art projects, revitalising the Main Street in Kelty.

"We will be displaying the before and after pictures of our proposed artworks for Main Street.

"There will also be free face painting, art workshops, community art projects, exhibitions, dance and martial art displays, musical entertainment, films from Kelty Community Cinema, refreshments and lots more for all ages".

Claire added: "We will be inviting all local clubs, groups and local creatives to book a table for free where they can raise awareness of their art, craft or creative business or local club through a display, demonstration, activities or workshop.

"We hope this will encourage members of the community to join groups they might not have heard of and support local businesses.

"We are also crowdfunding at https://www.youcaring.com/keltyartandregenerationtrust-1092843.

"We have received donations from some local businesses and charities and will be advertising this support at our event. We appreciate all these donations and the support we have received from the whole community. We hope to begin the transformation of Main Street during May".

If you would like to donate, sponsor or book a table for the May event contact them on Facebook 'Kelty Street Art Collective' or Keltyartregenerationtrust@gmail.com or call secretary Carol Gilmour on 07795830978.

Concluded Claire: "We have had fantastic support from the people of Kelty, and this event will be an opportunity for us to show our thanks and for our community to come together."
