AN ARGUMENT over children's behaviour escalated and led to a Kelty man assaulting his partner, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard this week.

Robert Jones, 35, of Croftangry Road, was in the dock for sentencing after earlier admitted that on December 15 last year, at Centre Street, he assaulted his partner by pushing her on the body causing her to fall onto a sofa, and pushing her on the body causing her to fall on to an item of furniture. He pushed her on the body causing her to fall to the floor and pushed her on the body causing her to fall onto a sofa and strike her head on it, to her injury.

Depute Fiscal, Dev Kapadia, said the argument started over lunch and, despite efforts from Jones' partner to calm things down, the argument continued and subsequently escalated.

Defence solicitor, Chris Sneddon, said his client deeply regretted the incident. "He understands the impact on everyone and understands he can never behave in that manner ever again," he added.

Sheriff Charles Macnair placed Jones on a community payback order with supervision for 18 months.
