WHILE a survey of Fife Council tenants in the Cowdenbeath- Lochgelly area showed that a high number are very satisfied with the service provided, fencing is a major issue.

Cowdenbeath Area Committee was told by Russell Gray, Area Housing manager, that the sample survey of 700 tenants responded that more were satisfied on how estates are managed than in 2016.

He added: "It was good to learn from the survey that tenants were pleased with the the way that the department keeps them informed of matters and listens to their comments.

"However, we are aware of issues raised in the process such as continuing fencing initiatives, wanting faster repairs and extra information if there is a delay and action needed on some of our flats especially some of the stairwells."

Cowdenbeath and Kelty councillor Alex Campbell said that fencing was a big issue for tenants.

He added: "Some of our fencing is simply not good enough.

"Maybe it is not a huge issue in the big picture but for a tenant with a fence problem they want to see it dealt with to secure their home and garden.

"I have had a number of tenants bringing up their fencing issues and Lochleven Terrace has had its share of issues."

Russell Gray added: "Fencing is a major issue and we have to look at each case on its own merits."
