THE former headteacher of St Joseph's Primary School in Kelty has died at the age of 89.

Ken Robertson lead the school for 16 years from 1968 to 1984 and was an active part of the community.

Born and raised in Kirkcaldy, Ken attended the University of Edinburgh and attained an Master of Arts in English. He went on to Moray House, Edinburgh, before pursuing a career in teaching, with positions at St Marie's Primary School, Kirkcaldy; St Columba's High School, Cowdenbeath; and latterly as headteacher at St Joseph's.

Ken, along with his wife, Phyllis, was a lifelong member of the Kirkcaldy Amateur Operatic Society and, being a talented musician, was the organist in his local church for more than 50 years.

Ken also demonstrated a wide general knowledge, winning the popular television quiz show, Fifteen to One.

Ken is survived by Phyllis, five children, 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

His funeral will take place on Tuesday, January 9, at St Pius Church, Kirkcaldy, at 1.45pm, and then at 3 pm at Kirkcaldy Crematorium, to which all are invited.
