A KELTY man assaulted his partner after going to her home when he was drunk.

Allan Shields, 36, of Oak Street, committed the offence in Dunfermline as the woman called her mum on the phone for help.

He admitted that on November 22, at his partner's home, he assaulted her by seizing her, repeatedly pushing her and causing her to fall to the floor.

Depute fiscal, Alex Piper, told Dunfermline Sheriff Court: “The accused attended at her home and was intoxicated.

"She let him in but didn’t want him there because of his behaviour.

“There was an argument and he took hold of her by the wrists, pushing her on the ground. She then phoned her mum and was shouting for her to call the police.”

The police traced Shields to a pub, where he had gone after the incident.

Defence solicitor, Gordon Martin, said: “He doesn’t remember much about it because he’d been drinking. She’s been trying to escort him from the premises. He pushes her, she falls and he leaves and goes to the pub.”

Sheriff Derek Reekie told Shields: “You got yourself into such a state that you can’t remember an incident which must have been highly alarming for your partner.”

He deferred sentenced until March 29 for good behaviour.
