MID Scotland and Fife MSP, Alex Rowley, joined with politicians from across the political spectrum to show racism the red card in the Scottish Parliament.

Set up in 1996, Show Racism the Red Card is the UK's leading anti-racism educational charity.

MSPs from across all political parties showed solidarity against racism at an event to promote the charity in the Scottish Parliament.

Interim leader of the Labour Party in Scotland, Mr Rowley said: “There is no place for racism whatsoever in Scottish society. It was great to see the Scottish Parliament united to show racism the red card.

“We all have a duty to stand up to intolerance and hate. It is simply unacceptable."

He added: "I am proud to join with colleagues from across the political spectrum to show that we are all united against any forms of racial prejudice in Scotland.

“Organisations such as Show Racism the Red Card play a vital role in keeping the message up as a priority. But we all have a role to play, everyone should stand up against racism until we finally rid the blight that it brings once and for all.”
