AT their April meeting, Blairadam and Kelty SWI members celebrated their 90th birthday.

To mark the event a celebratory dinner was held for members and guests.

President Rena Beveridge opened the event by welcoming everyone and introducing the guests for the evening who were National Senior Vice Chair, Linda Retson; Federation President Ursula Stewart; Dorothy Morris, President of the Perth and Kinross Group; and past President May Brown. Congratulatory speeches were followed by an excellent three course meal, coffee and cake.

The beautiful cake was made by the longest serving SWI member, Betty Petrie, who has chalked up an amazing 49 years. Betty delivered grace and along with another long serving member Fay Mitchell cut the cake.

Fay also made the wonderful floral arrangements, in the Institute colours, which adorned the tables.

Following the excellent meal, members and guests were entertained by ‘Rural Blend’, a singing group made up of members from a number of different Institutes.

The group treated the audience to a selection of songs from the early 1900s through to more recent compositions. The vote of thanks was given by Andrea Moyles, the secretary of Blairadam and Kelty SWI. She thanked everyone who had contributed to making the evening such a great success.
