THE Kelty Musical Association is this year following up Sunshine on Leith with another new show Spamalot and it is shaping up another winner for them.

This Monty Python inspired show has all the zany fun of the brilliant funny men like Eric Idle who based on the tale of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

It is a musical which has a bit of everything with some great dancing scenes and good songs and some fine performances from the Kelty cast.

Set in medieval times, King Arthur, brilliantly portrayed by Gary Gibb, tries to organises the Knights of the Round Table to join him at Camelot.

With Sir Robin (), a collector of plague victims, and Lancelot () meet as the latter is busy trying to dispose of Not Quite Dead Fred (). Meanwhile Arthur bids to persuade Dennis Galahad, played by , that he is King of England as the Lady of the Lake gave him Excalibur and he then asks the Lady and her Laker Girls turn Denis into a Knight and with the girls cheering him on he turns into Sir Galahad.

Along with Sir Bedevere () they create the fife Knights and soon appear in Camelot which actually looks more like the Las Vegas’ Camelot inspired Excalibur resort.

Singing their song, The Knights of the Round Table, the Knights are contacted by God (the voice of John Cleese enters the theatre), and they are asked to fund the Holy Grail.

Intercepted by rather lewd French soldiers they attempt to use a rather large Trojan Rabbit to turn the tide but alas they lose the battle.

Arthur turns the tide, however, by encountering The Black Knight () and defeating him by cutting off his arms but all of a sudden the show moves to Broadway and Arthur believes he can put on a musical.

However, his Knights are not so sure but Arthur continues with his quest and it brings an amazing story to a really funny end.

The songs in this production are quite stunning with the famous ‘Always Look On The Bright Side of Life’ by Arthur, Patsy, the Kights and Knights of Ni the best.

There are also ‘All for One’ by King Arthur; Patsy, Sir Galahad, Sir Bevedere, Sir Robin and Sir Lancelot; ‘Brave Sir Robin’ by Sir Robin and the Minstrels; and the ‘Knights of the Round Table’ by the company.

The show runs from tonight (Wednesday) to Saturday with a matinee on Saturday.
