KELTY siblings have managed to raise an impressive £6014 from a charity fundraiser in memory of their mum.

Emily Ireland (nee) Wilson tragically lost her life to sepsis on January 7 at just 59 years-old.

Her family told the Times in February that they believed medical staff had not spotted the signs quickly enough, but despite their pain they continue to do all they can to raise awareness of sepsis - a rare but serious condition.

Emily's daughter, Donna McFarlane, said: "The disco at the Kelty Club last Saturday was really successful. There was a great turn out with 140 people and it was a good night - we only had nine tickets left!

"It was great that we raised that amount of money and now we're wondering what our next adventure will be!"

Donna and her brother Thomas will be sending the money raised to FEAT (Fiona Elizabeth Agnew Trust) who are trying to find new approaches to stop sepsis, such as training dedicated A&E teams.

Donna continued: "£604 had already been raised via our just giving page but the majority of the money has come from everyone's generosity on the night.

"An incredible 71 prizes for the raffle were donated and family and friends also paid for six items that we put in a silent bid auction.

"These included; a bungee jump, a super car experience, meal for two at Jamie's Italian, a helicopter ride, glider experience and a multi-lock back door.

"Everyone was asked to wear white or red to match the stripey socks were sent by FEAT and we were also able to share a video about sepsis as well as set up a stand for people to visit."
