A HEROIN dealer has been jailed for eight months after police raided his Kelty home.

The search found 60 grams of heroin with a street value of £1000.

There was also £730 in cash seized by police and forfeiture of this was granted at previous hearing.

Dean McCaskill, 30, of High Street, Kinross, admitted that on May 12 last year at his then home in Keltyhill Avenue, Kelty, he was in possession of a controlled drug, diamorphine, with intent to supply.

Defence solicitor, Alexander Flett, said his client had a level of intelligence and was “preyed upon by others so that he is the one who suffers the consequences while others walk free”.

Sheriff Charles MacNair said: “It seems quite remarkable that this case was on summary and not on indictment.

“The fact remains that you were in possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and this is your third conviction for supply offences and your second involving class A drugs.”

The Sheriff pointed out McCaskill’s previous sentence had only expired at the beginning of 2016 and by May he was offending again.
