LOCHS councillor Alex Campbell has said that the Royal bank of Scotland has treated the Kelty community with contempt by taking the decision to close their Cowdenbeath branch later this year.

The move comes only a year after the RBS left the former mining village.

Said Councillor Campbell: "Yet again we have a move by this organisation without any proper consultation.

"When the Kelty RBS branch was shut last year we were told by them that the Cowdenbeath branch, two miles down the road, would be there for both the business people of the village and general public.

"Then within a matter of months they close the Cowden outlet without even a by-your-leave.

"They say now that the Dunfermline branch is available for the people of Kelty, but how long before they close that one and say it is Edinburgh that we should go to."

He added: "This organisation, which is owned by the public, seem to just dad on with their own agenda and are not interested in what communities have to say.

"They have treated the people of Kelty with contempt and really that is simply not good enough.

"I will be contacting the RBS east of Scotland head to inform him that this sort of action certainly wins them no support at all from the people in the street."
