TWO of Fife Council's recently completed flagship projects have been short listed for the prestigious Royal institution Of Chartered Surveyors awards for 2017.

The new £26million Windmill Community Campus in Kirkcaldy and the £7.5m Kelty Community Centre have been shortlisted and are both seen as great examples of Fife Council's new model of collocating different services into one community hub building.

Kelty Community Centre opened its doors this time last year and has become a facility which is used by all age groups.

Alan Paul, the Council's Property Services Senior Manager said: "We are delighted that two of our buildings have been short listed for these awards, it is testament to the quality of buildings that have been delivered by our in house resources across Fife Council.

“The RICS judges visited both buildings last week and were extremely impressed, both by the design quality of the building but also with the huge impact these buildings are having on their local communities. The judges commented on the real passion and pride that was clearly evident on view at both buildings from staff and customers, and that these buildings were already making a significant positive impact on their local communities"

The winners of the awards will be announced on April 26.
