A KELTY woman who “flipped” and wrecked her partner’s BMW after a drunken row, is still awaiting sentence.

Candice Henderson went on the rampage, punching, kicking and striking the car with a deck chair.

Henderson “flipped” when she thought her partner had been contacting another female, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.

Henderson admitted the offence at the start of September but because of her later failing to appear at court and doubts over the amount of damage caused, sentencing has again been delayed until February.

The court heard that Henderson believed the car had to be written off following the incident.

Henderson, 23, now of North Drum Street, admitted that at her then home in Provost Mill Way, Kelty, on May 1, she recklessly damaged property belonging to someone else by repeatedly striking a car with a chair and also kicked and punched the vehicle. The whole car was left dented and scratched.

Depute fiscal Alex Piper previously told the court Henderson had been drinking alcohol with friends before the incident.

“The car owner and the accused had been in a relationship for about a year and on this day they got into an argument.

“The car was in the driveway and the accused picked up a deck chair and struck it. She then punched and kicked the car.

“The windscreen was smashed, there was a dent on the bonnet, a crack on the bumper, a dent on the boot, scratches and various other dents.

“The victim claimed through his insurance and his excess was £775.”

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said on that occasion: “Drink had been taken and the red mist descended. She effectively flipped.”

However, when Henderson returned to court more than three months on, the amount of damage caused remained unknown.

Sheriff Charles MacNair, looking at the social work report, said: “What she seems to think is that the car was worth £6,500 and she says it was demolished.

“Does that mean the car has been written off?”

“Yes, I believe so,” said defence solicitor Gwenn Haggerty.

Depute fiscal Kirrin Upall was unable to give a figure for the damage caused. Sentence was deferred until February 1.
