Performing Arts students at Fife College will soon get the chance to apply for a scholarship thanks to the Mary Leishman Foundation.

The charity has kindly donated £3,000 to help students along with their studies.

Jim Leishman, who set up the Foundation in memory of his late wife Mary, was able to present a cheque to Fife College's Scholarship Programme at event held at the Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline.

Jim Leishman, the Provost of Fife, said: "This scholarship is a very fitting way to celebrate Mary's life - she was an avid theatre fan, loved performing and was a member of the Kelty Musical Association.

"She was a strong believer in the benefits of education and would therefore be extremely pleased that wer are able to support students again this year.

"Overall, the aim of the Mary Leishman Foundation is to encourage potential and ease distress which I am delighted to see is being achieved through this scholarship.

"I look forward to meeting this year's recipients in the near future."

The Mary Leishman Scholarship now part of a wide range of scholarships available to students at Fife College, and was set up over three years ago to recognise the outstanding skills and expertise of students committed to pursuing a career in Theatre Arts.

Gaynor Jarrett, Trust Fundraiser at Fife College said: "We are very thankful to have received this donation again this year from the Mary Leishman Foundation.

"The scholarship will make a huge difference in supporting our Theatre Arts students looking to further their studies or secure employment."
