A KELTY man pushed his pregnant partner and threw their Christmas tree across the room after being asked to help with sending presents.

Arran Adey, 30, of Blackhall Square, who earlier this year threatened to blow up a block of flats with a pipe bomb, punched a hole in a door after his girlfriend asked him to write names on the gifts.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court he admitted that on December 16 he assaulted his 35 weeks pregnant partner by seizing her by the arm and pushing her, causing her to fall.

He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing, acting in an aggressive manner, punching a hole through the living room door, throwing a Christmas tree and uttering threats of violence.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said the couple had been together for a year and were at home around 5pm when he had a 30-minute phone conversation with his mother.

Afterwards, his partner asked him to write names on some Christmas presents and Adey became aggressive.

He punched a door and threw the Christmas tree against a window. Neighbours heard loud noises coming from the house and the police were called.

Defence solicitor Elaine Buist said her client’s mother had “wound him up” during the phone call and his partner had fallen back on to a sofa after being pushed.

“He has something of a record but has been attempting to make a new life for himself. He used to hang about with the wrong type of people when he was in Edinburgh,” she added.

Sheriff Craig McSherry highlighted a High Court conviction from 2012, when Adey was jailed for robbing a woman in her own home.

Ms Buist admitted her client also had a conviction from earlier this year, when he threatened to light a pipe bomb if police tried to arrest him and told them to evacuate a block of flats in Lochgelly.

It turned out he did not have a pipe bomb.

Ms Buist said her client had Asperger’s Syndrome and had not been taking his medication.

Sheriff McSherry called for reports and Adey will be sentenced on January 25.
