WITH Christmas fast approaching, Fife Council's Active Fife has teamed up with Kelty Community Centre to promote a Cycling and Health and wellbeing evening in the New Year.

The WEE BIKEFEST will be just the thing to kick-start a health kick after the seasonal festivities.

This will be the third in a series of free fun filled evenings of cycling, health and wellbeing in the local Cowdenbeath area.

The first events took place in Lochgelly and Benarty and proved to be a big attraction, with the most pleasing aspect for the organiser’s being the number of youngsters and family members getting involved.

With a further three venues giving people the chance to find out more about the range of cycling activities available in the area and lots of health and wellbeing tips too, it means it is time to get on your bike in the Cowdenbeath area!

THE WEE BIKEFEST will be at Kelty Community Centre on Wednesday January 11 between 6pm and 8pm and people of all ages are welcome to go along to try their skills.

Said Fife Council's assistant cycling officer: "Active Fife are encouraging anyone that has a bike that is lurking in the shed or a recent Christmas gift to take it along to have it checked and tagged by members of the Community Police team and also have the opportunity to collect a Cycle Fife goody bag.

"A wide range of stalls and booths offers opportunities to learn what the planned Closed Loop Cycling Circuit at Lochgelly will offer the community and cyclists alike.

"You can also enter a great competition run by the Meedies Bike Club to see who can travel the furthest on a static bike.

"People can also find out what is happening down at Lochore Meadows and what activities are available for you and your family".

Other event activities included pedalling your way to making a tasty smoothie, learning all about the work the Community Police do in the local area and marvelling at the range of activities that PeachyKeen can let you participate in and show you how to power yourself on some fun filled exhibits and apparatus!

There is also a great chance to find out about all the cycle routes in the local area and wider. Scottish Cycling was also be in attendance to give people information and tips on how to take those first steps into competitive cycling.

There are more WEE BIKEFEST events coming up on January 18 at Cardenden's Corrie Centre; and rides on January 25 at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre.

The WEE BIKEFEST would like to thank the following partners for supporting this wheelie great community biking initiative: Fife Council, PeachyKeen, Scottish Cycling, Meedies Bike Club, Community Police, NHS Health and Social Care Partnership, Cycle Fife and all event volunteers.
