AS the concern continues about the loss of bus services in the locality Fife Council is urging all bus users to take part in Stagecoach’s bus timetable proposals consultation.

Stagecoach is proposing to reduce, remove and amend a number of its commercial bus services operating in Fife. Full details of the proposals can be found here along with the online consultation form.

Among the services under review are the 34 which goes through Benarty and the X26 which links Auchtertool and Crossgates with Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy.

Cllr Pat Callaghan, Executive Spokesperson for Environment and Transportation said: “We’re disappointed Stagecoach is proposing to withdraw a number of its bus services. Some villages may be left with no bus service at all.

“I strongly encourage Fife bus users to look at Stagecoach’s proposals and either fill in the online survey or attend one of the consultation events this week. It’s important everyone affected has their say before the bus company finalise their new timetables.

“With current budget restrictions it will not be possible for the Council to find replacements to the commercial services withdrawn by Stagecoach.”

Council Officer’s continue to examine where existing supported services could be adjusted to marry into Stagecoach’s proposals.

Stagecoach’s online consultation will end on June 24.

Today the consultation takes place at 2.30pm-4pm at Kelty Millennium Gardens.

Thursday June 16 2.30pm-4pm Glenrothes Bus Station.
