THE new Kelty Community Centre impressed Lochs councillor Ann Bain and new MSP for Cowdenbeath Annabelle Ewing.

The Centre was officially opened on Friday by Alex Rowley and the public were given the go-ahead to look around the £7.3m facility.

Both Mrs Bain and Ms Ewing took the opportunity to look around and they found it very impressive.

The Centre boasts a large sports hall, a fitness suite, changing accommodation for the 3G super turf pitch at Central Park; the village library; the local council office; an IT learning suite; a youth room and interview rooms.

Speaking after the event, Ms Ewing said: "I was delighted to have been able to attend this event which was a very happy occasion, indeed.

"The new Community Centre will be a fantastic asset to the village and I want to take the opportunity to say a huge 'well done' to all the many people who have been involved in the project, including my predecessor, Alex Rowley, who unveiled the plaque.

"Thanks also to the Kelty and Blairadam Pipers who piped us all in so well and thanks are also due to Kelty Primary School's P5 School Choir and the P7s from St Joseph’s Primary School for the lovely music.

"What a credit these young singers are to their schools and to their community".

"I look forward to attending many events in this great facility in the years to come."
