LOCHS councillor Alex Campbell has been fighting the Thomson's case for some time but he is frustrated by the lack of four bedroom properties available for rent in Kelty and he really feels for young families facing the sort of problems the Thomsons are experiencing.

He said: "I am working with the housing department trying to look at ways Claire, Craig and their children can be assisted.

"The major problem we have in the village is that there are no four bedroom homes currently available.

"It is causing a chronic problem and while some new bigger homes are currently being built there are people already up the top of the housing waiting for these.

"There are maybe some other routes we can go down with the Thomsons but it is not at all easy for them."

Roger Mullin, MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath, has also been working with the family.

Meanwhile the housing department is continuing to try to assist the Thomsons.

Bill Campbell, Housing Services Area Team Manager for Cowdenbeath, said: "I visited Mr Thomson and his family at his home yesterday (Thursday January 21) along with Councillor Alex Campbell and a housing maintenance officer.

"I explained to him that his family are on the housing waiting list for a four bedroom property in the Kelty area but that there is currently a high demand for four bedroom properties in the village.

"We appreciate that they are living in a difficult situation but there are other applicants ahead of them on the waiting list. At this point in time we are unfortunately unable to advise when they are likely to receive an offer of housing."
