THE 2015 ‘Royal’ team in Crossgates was chosen on Wednesday and the girls are now looking forward to an exciting summer The Gala Queen and attendants were chosen at a special disco held in the Community Centre and the 2015 Crossgates Gala Queen is 11 year-old Poppy Johnston.
Her princesses are 10 year-old Nicole Paltiel and five year-old Leyla Biggarstaff.
The Gala Committee’s Barry Tillier said it was an excellent event and now all eyes were on making the preparations for Crossgates Gala Week which starts on 28th June with gala day itself on Saturday 4th July.
Said Barry, “As the gala day falls on 4th July we thought it appropriate to make this year’s theme ‘The USA ‘and I am sure that this will get the imaginations working.” He added that each year the gala committee was faced with raising £4000 to fund the various events which make up gala week and to help get the funds in place members would be going around the village this week knocking on doors and hoping that residents would make a donation. “We have to put together a funding package each year and the door to door collection is an important part of this,” said Barry.
