BRAVE Crossgates nurse Pauline Cafferkey is showing signs of recovery as she battles the deadly Ebola virus, with doctors confirming that she is no longer critical.

Pauline (39) has been fighting for her life after contracting Ebola during her time volunteering with Save the Children in Sierra Leone. She is currently being treated at the Royal Free Hospital in London, and on Monday afternoon the hospital announced through a statement that she was showing signs of improvement and is no longer critically ill. She remains in isolation as she receives specialist care for the Ebola virus.

Members of the Crossgates, Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath communities have been rallying together to pray for her recovery, and last week Pauline’s family released a statement to thank everybody for their support.

“We would like to thank all our friends, family and the members of the public who have contacted us with support following Pauline’s diagnosis with Ebola,” they said. “We have been very touched by the kind words.”
