CROSSGATES nurse Pauline Cafferkey's battle against the deadly Ebola virus is improving, as doctors confirm that she is no longer critically ill.
Pauline (39) contracted the virus when she was in Sierra Leone volunteering as a healthcare worker to help fight the disease, and was taken to the Royal Free Hospital in London for treatment.
After being treated with blood plasma and an experimental anti-viral drug, it looked like Pauline was improving but on Saturday 3rd January the hospital revealed that her condition had deteriorated and was critical.
However this afternoon, the Royal Free Hospital announced through a statement that Pauline was showing signs of improvement and is no longer critically ill. She remains in isolation as she receives specialist care for the Ebola virus.
