A SPECIAL fun day is being held in Crossgates on Sunday 30th in the British Legion between noon and 4pm in conjunction with the Coalfields Community Futures initiative.

The Futures programme will see £25,000 made available for projects chosen by the people of the village to be progressed to make improvements to Crossgates.

Robert Arnott, chairman of the Crossgates Community Council and a member of the Futures steering group, said, “There will be a chance to vote for your favorite projects which have been submitted by various groups in the village.

“A large number of groups in the village (over ten and growing) will have stands to inform people what they do and this is a chance to find out what you are misssing and what you can get involved with. There will be displays and shows, by among others, the primary school choir; Cowdenbeath Community Theatre, who will be doing extracts from the panomime Red Riding Hood which is being put on at the Lochgelly Centre at the start of December; and also Crossgates Crystals. “Children’s activities will be ongoing all day including learning a circus skill and pillow fighting as well as others. The Mines Rescue station will have a display on show as well and there will be a display and information on the village of the past”.

Added Robert, “This is the residents’ chance to see what is available in the village and give their opinion on what they want to see in the future for all age groups”.
