THE effect the Crossgates Greenfingers Group is having on the village is being recognised on the national stage.

The group’s work has seen Crossgates take on a colourful look, ranging from the community garden feature, and planters situated throughout the village.

Mrs. Liz Beattie accepted an award from Keep Scotland Beautiful in the “Its Your Neighbourhood” campaign on behalf of the Group. This is the second year the Group have been presented with this award. The Group were also presented for the third year running with the “Silver Gilt” Award from Fife Council in the “Beautiful Fife” competition amongst a very high standard of competition. Said Liz, “The Group members are now preparing for their annual Christmas event whereby our local Santa switches on the Christmas tree lights to the sound of Crossgates Primary School choir.

“Hospitality is then offered in the form of Christmas pies etc., within the local Masonic Lodge, with a disco for the primary school children held within the community centre and is run on the night by volunteer Crossgates parents.” Crossgates Greenfingers is busy throughout the year with gardening and taking part in community events. All new faces are very welcome as are new ideas. Go along to the Christmas event or contact Liz Beattie direct on 01383 512264.
