CROSSGATES Gala 2014 takes place on Saturday and the weather people are suggesting a pretty decent day for the event.

The gala committee have spent a lot of time putting together a good day of activities and indeed a week of fun.

This year’s Gala will be run on the theme of the ‘World Cup’, so the message is dress up in the country of your choice, make a float or support it how you wish.

So far this week there has been the Mines Rescue Open Day, and a Fun Run and there are 5-a-sides, a Quiz Night, and a Wheelbarrow Race, leading up to Saturday.

The big day will see goodie bags, ice creams, bouncy castles, samba band, pipe band, fun band, kids races, rides, stalls, games, majorettes, birds of prey and classic cars.

Gala committee chairman Barry Tillier said, “We had a great day last year. Join us again this year, for it sure looks like being a great day.” The parade will leave the Mines Rescue Station at noon on Saturday and head for Humbug Park where there will be plenty of fun to be had.
