STAGE stars at Crossgates Primary got ready for Santa after solving the story of a crisis with a memorable nativity performance.

Pupils in P1-P3 stole the show when they showcased their 'Midwife Crisis' performance in front of proud parents at the school before the holidays.

The play tells the tale of a midwife who, on hearing that a king is about to be born, heads out into the night in search of a palace that her donkey and townspeople and kings they come across haven't heard of.

However, with the help of a bright star and some gospel-singing angels, she's led to a stable to find the baby already waiting.

Jackie Whitley, P1 teacher, said: "We had some of the P2s doing solos and the P3s had their own lines; everyone got their two minutes of fame!

"The parents loved it and it's nice because you know what the children can do, so for them to show it is great.

"They loved it because they like doing all the dancing and signing and there were one or two tears in the audience. It was quite emotional!

"It's nice that the P1-P3s have their nativity and that the P4-7s have their Christmas song show. There's good variety and we had Boogie from Forth One in the week before, so it's been a busy run up to Christmas.

"The children are all feeling very festive now!"
