DOUGLAS Chapman, MP for Crossgates, Hill of Beath and Moss-side, wore pink this week to help highlight the battle against breast cancer.

He is supporting women affected by the illness by encouraging constituents to take part in the UK’s biggest, brightest and pinkest fundraiser, Wear It Pink, this Friday.

It calls on supporters to add a flash of pink to their wardrobe for the day and raise money for Breast CancerNow’s life-saving breast cancer research.

Dunfermline and West Fife MP, Mr Chapman joined fellow parliamentarians in wearing it pink in Westminster to support the cause.

He has been joined by Peter Grant and Roger Mullin at Westminster and Annabelle Ewing, Alex Rowley, Jenny Gilruth and Murdo Fraser at Holyrood in promoting the campaign.

Mr Chapman said: “Breast Cancer Now are tackling the disease from all angles to ensure that, by 2050, everyone that develops the disease will live.

"But we all need to join forces and act now, and in wear it pink there is a fun and simple way for everyone to get involved.

“I’m committed to standing up for the women and families affected by the disease in Dunfermline & West Fife and I am very proud to take part in Wear It Pink.

"I hope the community will join me by wearing pink on Friday and show their support for Breast Cancer Now.”

Wear It Pink raises close to £2 million each year for research into breast cancer.

Anyone can take part, whether at work, at home or at school. All you have to do is wear something pink and donate what you can. For more information visit www.wearitpink.org

When you join the hundreds of thousands of people who take part in wear it pink, you become part of a collective force of scientists, supporters and people affected by breast cancer.

Together, by funding cutting-edge research, the aim is to ensure no one dies from breast cancer by 2050.
