A MAJOR event is planned for early September to raise much needed funds for Crossgates gala.

'T at the Humbug' is an eight hour music festival which will see several local bands backing headliners Sunshine Spirit on Saturday September 10.

The day will start at noon and run until 8pm and at least nine bands will make an appearance.

Tickets are £10 for adults and under 18s are entry free of charge.

Crossgates Gala Committee's chairman Barry Tillier explained that the proceeds would be shared with the youth football set-up run at Humbug.

Barry said: "It takes a fair sum to put the gala day on and we are always looking to raise funds.

"This will be a big community day at Humbug Park and the proceeds will be split between the gala committee and the organisation which runs the youth football teams at the ground.

"It is an outstanding youth football set-up but of course it takes a fair amount of money to run it."

Tickets for T at the Humbug can be purchased at the Corner Shop, the Munchbox and the Crystal Bar and along with the music there will be a selection of fun rides in the park.

Among the backing groups are Magazine Bend, Too Late To Atone, Kimozabe, Half Built House, The Fade and Cherry Diesel.

Added Barry: "Hopefully we will get a decent day weather wise and it will be a great day in Crossgates."
