THE Sensory Garden for Dementia Sufferers Project, being organised by Lochgelly man Dick Campbell, will reach an important stage over the next few weeks.

Dick, with the full backing of the Times, wants to raise upwards of £50,000 to see a special sensory garden included in the new care village for senior citizens which will start construction in Lumphinnans next year.

The organising committee met with Fife Council officials last week to discuss the project and during the get-together it was pointed out that the Lumphinnans care village was one of three to be built in Fife, the others being constructed in Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes.

Said committee member Ronnie Shevas, “The Kirkcaldy facility will be finished first and the council officials have invited us down to have a look around with a view to us being able to select the best site for the sensory garden.” A number of fundraisers have already been organised to make the garden happen with the biggest event being a ball in November.
