THE Cowdenbeath based Curly Star Foundation raised several thousand pounds with their special evening to remember Candice Easton.
The Foundation, set up by the Easton family in memory of Candice who they lost 10 years ago, helps families and people who have lost someone through suicide and now also provides support services for people who may have thought about taking their own life.
Jackie Easton, who has organised the Curly Star Foundation with husband Callum, chose Friday 13th March as the night for their Hill of Beath Club fundraiser as it marked exactly a decade since they lost daughter Candice.
Said Jackie, “The evening was a total success and a complete sell out!
“Approximately 200 people were in attendance, and there were some new faces but also many who have supported the charity over the years.
“There were donations galore and the entertainment was amazing with Staxx of Motown Soul Band - and Lumphinnans girl Carly Schiavone singing with them.” Jackie reported that they raised £4000, with donations still coming in. She added,”This was a fantastic amount and I have to say that we never thought we would have received this. We would like to thank again thank everyone for their help”.
The money raised will help the Curly Star Foundation maintain its support services through the six volunteers it currently has who provide the information which supports the families who have lost someone to suicide and also those who have considered taking their own lives.
