YOUNGSTERS from disadvantaged backgrounds in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area will have a good Christmas if Cowdenbeath Rotary Club's Christmas Fayre, this Sunday, is a success.

For the club plans to work in conjunction with the social work department, based in Cowdenbeath, to ensure that young people in the area who might face this Christmas without getting presents or their festive meal, will have something to look forward to.

The Christmas Fayre takes place at Kelty Ex-Servicemen's Club on Sunday from noon to 4pm.

There are over 20 stalls booked in and it will be an ideal opportunity for people to pick-up the presents they need and at the same time donate to a good cause.

Thursday's meeting of the club heard from junior vice-president, Marie Shevas, "There are kids in our community who face waking up on Christmas morning without the prospect of receiving any presents or little festive food.

"Hopefully, working with the social work staff, we can help them have a good Christmas.

"Already the business community has been very generous donating a lot of items and money to the cause and we will have some 20 stalls at Kelty Club on Sunday.

"Hopefully there will be a good turn out from the public to help support the cause."

Doors open on the Fayre at noon and there will be stalls selling all sorts of items which would make good presents for members of the family of all ages.
