KIDS at Lumphinnans Primary were entertained and enthralled by spiders, snakes and other creepy-crawlies when Zoolab dropped by.
The animal handling workshop paid a visit to the school and all the kids, from nursery to Primary 7, got the chance to handle a variety of critters, including a millipede, corn snake, tarantula, a cockroach and a rat.
While a few of the children were nervous, many nevertheless enjoyed the experience of getting up close and personal with the animals!
Eco co-ordinator, Karen Chalmers, said, “We’re on our third Green Flag and the visit tied in very nicely with environmental topics.
“It was great for the kids – Ross the handler was very enthusiastic and the kids really enjoyed the experience.
“They were really excited, some were nervous but the majority were quite keen to have a wee touch.
“They took a lot away from it. Ross was talking about litter and how important it is that we don’t litter because it affects the animals as well.
“The kids got a lot out of it and it did stimulate an interest in the animals as well.”
