COWDENBEATH Environment Group has done it again with the town being award a silver gilt award which was presented at an awards evening at the Rothes Halls, Glenrothes.

The Group was delighted with the award but had high hopes of success with the work that had been put in in the spring and early summer and the fine colourful scenes it had produced.

Said a spokesman for the Enviro Group, “Looking back over the year we had a huge array of colour throughout the town, especially on High Street.

“Tubs, planters and hanging baskets plus tree baskets at the gateway to the town looked really smart and thanks to the Fife Council parks department the green spaces also looked good.

“It just shows what can be achieved when people work together for a common cause.” The Group has been going for 14 years and members come and go but they have managed to go on.

But added the spokesman, “Now we only have four active members so we would like more people to come forward and get involved.

“This year’s efforts would not have been possible without the help of Stephen Duffie and Colin Davidson, of Fife Council, plus our thanks also goes to the Ennvironmental Services and Community Services departments who work hard to keep the streets and parks clean and tidy.

“Also the volunteers who do their bit to carry out the projects we come up with, they have been excellent and they deserve a huge pat on the back.” He concluded, “I have to say that the awards night, held at the Rothes Halls, in Glenrothes, was excellently presented by Keith Jackson, of the council, who was well assisted on the night and there was an excellent turn out of the groups who work hard to make their towns and communities look good.

“We would like to congratulate them all and it was also great to see so many Central Fife communities represented there and the people who put so much work into enhancing their respective areas.” If you would like to help Cowden Enviro Group in any way by assisting for a few hours then call 01383 515408.
