THESE girls just Love 2 Dance and have hip-hopped their way to the UDO World Street Dance Championships on 22nd to 24th August in Glasgow. Their achievement is all the more remarkable as they have only been dancing competitively since May this year.

Aged eight to 17, the girls perform as two dance crews - Shhh for younger dancers and Eclectic for older teenagers. They all belong to Cowdenbeath based Love 2 Dance, run by professional dancer and teacher, Stephanie Hamilton. Although Stephanie has been running her dance school to teach all kinds of dance for eight years, she only decided to form competitive street dance crews earlier this year and they made their first appearance in May.

Amid the training, costume preparation and fundraising Stephanie said, “I’m so excited to be taking both crews to the World Championships and I’m sure they will do us proud. “They have all trained so hard and on the way brought back 15 trophies from the qualifying competitions. We are also really grateful to Adonis Media in Dunfermline for sponsoring the girls and helping out with branded tracksuits for them to travel in.” The UDO World Street Dance Championships are taking place at the SECC in Glasgow and over 200 international teams are competing.

The girls perform as two crews but also are hitting the stage in duos, quads and solos. And since the dancers’ mums have spent so long watching their daughters train they have decided to form a parents’ crew of their own and they will perform in a special “mums” category at the competition, too! The girls come from Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly and Kelty.
