THE Glee Primary School Show Choir competition is back for a second year, this time bigger and better with fifteen Primary Schools participating including two local primaries.

Three sectional heats will be held at the Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline, on 1st May, and the Rothes Halls, Glenrothes, on the 29th April and 8th May, and the Grand Final will take place on 29th May.

School children from all of the schools have been giving up their lunch times and staying behind to rehearse their dance moves and their singing in true Glee style.

They will sing and dance through Fleetwood Mac’s famous track ‘Don’t Stop’ (Thinking About Tomorrow) and a track of their choosing from the famous Glee TV show. Each participating child will receive a medal and certificate and are all competing to get to the Grand Final to lift the large American style trophy and a recording session at Q-Ten recording studios, Glenrothes.

The aim of the challenge is to showcase the work of schools and other local children’s’ groups in order to benefit the Children’s Unit at the Victoria Hospital. Organiser, Linda Cormie, hopes that the event and the raffle will raise awareness of the work of the local children’s ward as well as providing much needed funds.

She said, “The hard work of the staff in the Children’s Unit often goes unnoticed and this is a chance to raise the profile and hopefully some money through an evening of fun and enthusiasm.” The two local schools taking part, Denend from Cardenden and Cowdenbeath PS, will be involved in Heat 2 at Dunfermline’s Carnegie Hall on 1st May.
