A COWDENBEATH man poured boiling water over his work colleague after “something flipped” in him during a row.
Deryk Reddington (32), of Victoria Court, High Street, admitted a charge of attemping to assault Steven Lennon to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement during an appearance at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
The Court heard that Reddington was taunted about his “charred” car by Mr Lennon, who he had an ongoing dispute with and had recently began working for the same company, before he struck him repeatedly on the head with a kettle.
Sheriff Ian Abercrombie said background reports on Reddington were “riddled with lack of remorse” and he was giving serious consideration to jailing him. Instead he deferred sentence until 23rd April for further reports.
The Sheriff added, “I know comments were made but that does not excuse someone hitting another person over the head with a boiling kettle. I am toying with several years of imprisonment and will not accept otherwise without evidence of your contriteness.”
