Nine arrested following police raids

Fife Police have published interim results of their ongoing initiative aimed at addressing drug misuse in Cowdenbeath and the surrounding areas.

Since the beginning of November a number of actions by local police officers has netted considerable results and has made some inroads into the supply of drugs in the locality.

A total of nine people have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal at Dunfermline in relation to the seizure of herbal cannabis, amphetamine, cannabis resin and heroin from Cowdenbeath, Kelty and Lochgelly.

Following the largest haul of herbal cannabis seen during the initiative a 27 year old man was arrested when 30 cannabis plants were found growing in a house in Lochgelly. The value of the crop was put at £8,500.

Chief Inspector Bennet said of the initiative, "Officers will continue to focus their attention on areas of criminality that impact on the quality of life for the vast majority of law abiding citizens in our communities. Drug abuse and drug dealing can have a corrosive effect on the areas they operate in and I am committed to tackling drugs wherever the issue raises its head.
